Expresses tolerance and uncertainty: 5 ± 0.2 mm, or a margin of error in survey results. Set it closed up against the following number with a space before it. In engineering drawings it precedes tolerances directly. Don’t fake it by stacking + over − — the precomposed glyph aligns correctly with digits at any size.
