∞
Infinity
The lemniscate of endlessness — limits (x → ∞), unbounded ranges, and marketing shorthand for “unlimited”. In interval notation it always takes a round bracket: [0, ∞). Glyph width varies a lot between fonts, from compact to very wide, so check alignment in tables. Distinct from the proposed acid-free-paper symbol usage in publishing colophons.
