Division sign

The obelus, familiar from calculators and grade-school arithmetic: 12 ÷ 3. In professional mathematics a fraction bar or slash is preferred, but the sign remains the clearest option for elementary teaching material and calculator UIs. Space it on both sides. Don’t confuse it with ∕ (division slash) or the humble solidus.
