Section sign

Cites numbered sections of statutes, codes, and contracts: § 230. Doubled (§§ 12–14) it refers to multiple sections. Set a non-breaking space between the sign and the number so they never separate across lines. Also called the silcrow; distinct from the pilcrow (¶), which cites paragraphs rather than sections.
