Double vertical line

Two parallel vertical bars as a single character, used in mathematics for norms (‖x‖) and in prosody and dictionaries as a strong pause or section divider. As a decorative separator it reads heavier than a single pipe |. Do not fake it with two ASCII pipes, which space differently.
